How can I adopt a pet featured as an Animal of the Month?
Each animal's Animal of the Month feature includes the place we encountered the furry friend, whether it be in a local shelter or on an animal foster website. By navigating to the bottom of the feature, you will find plenty of information on the animal, and by visiting the shelter or website we reported from, you will be able to find the animal in question! Each shelter or rescue has it's own adoption rules, so make sure to visit their website for more details!

If a shelter or rescue is making sure their animals are healthy, loved, and set up for success, we’re excited to work with them. We look for rescues that are transparent about medical needs, upfront about behavior, and truly focused on matching pets with the right homes. Austin has so many amazing, hardworking rescues, and we love highlighting the ones that go the extra mile for their animals.
Do you cover wildlife or nature news from around Texas and Austin, or only pets?
Athough we often focus on cats, dogs, and other pets, we do have a wide array of other topics covered! to see what topics we cover, locate the categories section, or view categories on the homerow of any page. There you will find all of our article topics, from Austin, to the environment, to animal-related news! Although our shelter and much of our news covers specifically Austin, many of our articles cover topics that apply to people from all around the world! On top of this, our news-related articles tend to cover much of Texas, so if you happen to live in Texas, that information will apply to you directly!
How often do you update adoption listings or remove animals who have already found homes?
Due to the high volume of Animal of the Month articles, we do not take down articles that have animals already adopted. However, we do our best to edit articles letting people know that the animal has been adopted, so that readers understand that the article is more of a bio-pic than an adoption advertisement. We still find value in keeping the article up in case anyone wants to see how cute the animals are! We understand however if you adopted a pet and would like for us to remove our article on your new furry friend. Please email ariana.gerdts@icloud.com and we will remove the article of your pet.
